About

Singer/Songwriter

Hi, I'm Andrew Zap, a Brooklyn-based musician and visual artist who was born and raised in a small town 25 miles north of NYC. Like so many artists, my work is, in its purest sense, my form of meditation. As a singer/songwriter, I've always believed that the more feeling and love I can put behind my music, the greater the chance a listener has of feeling that emotion, too. At the end of the day, I just feel lucky to have a strong, enduring passion for something I really enjoy doing. Singing, songwriting, and recording is when I'm happiest and most in the moment.

As both a solo artist and singer/songwriter for the band Zap & The Naturals, I've had the opportunity to play shows across the U.S. and Europe, sharing the bill with amazing performers such as State Radio, G-Love & Special Sauce and reggae legend Luciano. These opportunities have also led to collaborations with truly talented people—State Radio's Chuck Fay mixed Zap & The Naturals' 2013 release, Half Past Three. Chuck, along with G-Love & Special Sauce's Jimmy Jazz, were guest musicians on Half Past Three's breakout track, Bring The Sun. This same track can be heard in Kathy Leichter's 2014 documentary, Here One Day.

I recently released my latest solo EP, Dope Focus, a five song collaboration with producer and ex-bandmate Joel Pixley-Fink. The soul/pop EP reflects our love of old soul and reggae music and those influences are weaved into the fabric of the album.  I will be announcing 2017 summer tour dates soon, so stay tuned.
